Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) – Food Photography
How much do food photographers charge in Ireland?
Food photography pricing in Ireland varies depending on factors like experience, project scope, and usage rights. On average, rates range from €250 to €1,500+ per session. Some photographers charge per hour, while others offer package deals, including styling and editing. Get in touch for a customised quote based on your needs. I charge per shot which means the product is brought into the studio, styled and photographed. For visits to locations, for example restaurants where food that is freshly made can not be sent to the studio the same rates generally apply, however there are situations where shots can be taken in situ and thus costs are less due to the styling not being so much of a factor.
Who is the most famous food photographer?
Globally, some of the most well-known food photographers include Donna Hay, Beata Lubas, and David Loftus (famous for his work with Jamie Oliver). Closer to home, Ireland has some incredibly talented food photographers producing stunning work for brands, cookbooks, and magazines.
Do you offer food styling, or do I need to hire a stylist?
I offer basic food styling as part of my service, ensuring dishes look their best on camera. However, for more intricate setups, working with a dedicated food stylist can elevate the shoot even further. I can recommend experienced stylists if needed.
How long does a food photography session take?
The length of a shoot depends on the number of dishes and level of styling required. A simple shoot can take 2–3 hours, while larger-scale productions may last a full day. Planning is key to maximising the session time.
Do you provide edited images?
Yes, all final images are professionally edited to enhance lighting, colours, and details. You’ll receive high-resolution images optimised for print and web use.
Can you shoot at my restaurant or business location?
Yes! I can set up on-site at your restaurant, café, or business, bringing professional lighting and equipment to capture your dishes in their natural setting. If a studio setup is needed, that can be arranged too.
What should I prepare before a food photography shoot?
To get the best results, have your ingredients and dishes ready, ensuring they’re fresh and well-prepared. Consider plating, props, and the overall look you want to achieve.
